I began my career at Sport Chek in the mid 90’s. It was here that my passion for the outdoor and ski industry was born. There was something about the people and energy of the industry that resonated with me.
I followed this passion to my next retail career at Comor Sports. It was here that, even though I was going to school to become a teacher, I truly knew that I wanted to stay in the business as long as I could. Here I got my first taste of retail buying, helped manage/open/close/move stores, and got to learn more about the business that I loved.
From Comor, it was time to see the industry through a new lens, wholesale & distribution. At RC products, over a seven-year period, I was a product manager, a sales rep and a sales manager for lines that included RC, Bakoda, Toko, Heat Factory and Sportube.
When RC got out of the sporting goods business, I moved to Interex as sales manager for Darn Tough, Yaktrax, & Grangers (amongst others), and started the brand Ski Ties, a spinoff of many of the popular items from RC. Interex being a small, family run business, I got to dig even deeper into the inner workings of the business, by wearing “many hats”. Sales, shipping, customer service, accounting…..I left no stone unturned.
Since leaving Interex, and using the skills learned from the experiences above, I started a small distribution company with my wife Julia to sell Ski Ties, Loksak, Purl Wax and Sportube, and began working for Tom Jones in his sales agency as a sales rep.
Chris lives in Squamish BC with his wife Julia, and two energetic sons Greyson and Redden.
